Roof Mounted Systems.

This picture shows a rooftop solar system which is also referred to as a photovoltaic or PV system. It uses energy from the sun to generate electricity that offsets existing energy loads in the home and also offsets your electricity bills! The average cost of our residential / small commercial PV system is $3 to $5 per watt. This means a 3,000 watt system installed will be somewhere between $9,000 and $15,000 depending upon the level of equipment used and the location of the solar modules on the roof or multiple roof sections. The average payback period for this system is 5 to 12 years depending upon your utility company. Contact us for detailed information on your pricing and payback period.

Grid-Tied vs. Off-Grid Solar Systems

There are two main types of solar systems available. Grid-tied systems maintain a connection to the power grid for back-up. Off-grid solar systems operate with solar panels and batteries as back up with no connection or reliance to the power grid.

Grid-Tied

  • Generates solar power for the home when the suns out

  • Feeds unused power back into the grid

  • Owner earns credits from power company and uses those power credits at night when most power is used

Off-Grid

  • Generates solar power for the home when the suns out

  • Draws on battery pack for power at night
